I spent the evening fitting the masik, and after temporarily strapping it and the coaming to the frame, I could do the first "proper" entry and exit test. The masik is just right, I can wiggle myself into and out of the kayak without serious bruising. However, I discovered that I'd made a mistake in measuring: the foot support was too far aft. I had to cut it out and fit a new one some 15 cm towards the bow. I also cut the curved deck beam between the masik and the foot support, and experimented some with the placement of the forward deck stringers. No photos this time, as this session didn't turn out particularly productive. Total building time: 21 hours Next step: lashing the deck beams
